With 3D printers growing in popularity, more designs flood the market every day – making it harder to know which is best for you. To help your decision, today we’re evaluating the Qidi Tech X-Smart 3D Printer.
After putting this 3D printer to the test, does it measure up? We loved that it’s easy to set up and use, it’s highly safe, and it’s compatible with many different types of filament.
Is that enough for hobbyists to click ‘buy’ on this device? Not everyone is after the same thing and some crafters may have some different opinions about some of the features presented.
For that reason, we’ll be taking a closer, in-depth look at the Qidi Tech X-Smart 3D Printer to find out all the details and see if it’s a fit for you!

How Does it Work?
Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or entirely new to 3D printing, the Qidi Tech X-Smart is easy to set-up. Because it arrives almost fully assembled, there’s very little effort required.
Once you have it unboxed, make sure to clear away all the packaging material. There will be foam inside the printer as well as outside it, so you may need to adjust the heat bed to remove everything.
Next, plug the machine in and turn on the printer. The printing area and the touchscreen should light up. From there, connect it to your Wi-Fi, adjust/level the heat bed, and ensure the axes are correct.
Next, attach the spool holder to the printer and place your roll of filament inside. Only then are you ready to print.
From the touchscreen, begin to heat up the bed and dual extruders. Once they are set, slowly insert the filament into the extruders. Now, it’s time to print!
Once you pick your design and run it through the slicing software, send it to the printer. The X-Smart will take the reins from there. After the print is finished, use the included scraper to remove your object from the bed. It’s that simple!
- Removable magnetic plate.
- QidiPrint software.
- Filament guide tube.
- Acrylic cover.
- Power cable
- User guide.
- USB pen drive.
- Spare part box.
- Spool of filament.
- Spool holder.
The Qidi Tech X-Smart 3D Printer includes a heated bed, which results in higher quality prints.
Specifically, filament sticks far better to a bed when it’s heated; when you’re trying to build up the filament to make your object, you definitely want it to stick.
The bed also allows you to develop items of up to 9 x 5.9 x 5.9 inches or smaller. That may seem limiting, but, as experienced crafters know, this covers a rather wide range.
This Qidi Tech printer also includes a 3.5-inch LCD touchscreen for easy navigation. No need to press any buttons or turn dials to operate the printer; it’s all on the touchscreen.
Whether you’re leveling the bed, changing the axis, setting the temperature, or just altering the printer settings, this is all controlled from the menus on the touchscreen.
The X-Smart 3D printer is also fully enclosed, specifically in clear plastic around the printing area. Because of this, no curious hands, no wayward objects, and no daring flies can interrupt your printing process.
As a bonus, the enclosure keeps the machine relatively quiet.
You can use at least three different types of filaments with this Qidi Tech 3D printer: ABS, PLA, and TPU. So long as your choice is high quality, it should be fine.
However, outside of these three specifically, Qidi Tech does not mention any other types of compatible filament.
One of the best features on this X-Smart 3D printer is the dual extruders. Twice the amount of filament comes out at once, ensuring the process is that much quicker.
Additionally, you can use two types of filament on one object, such as different colors or different materials.
Qidi Tech X-Smart 3D Printer Review
Super Easy to Set Up
The set-up for Qidi Tech X-Smart 3D Printer is rather straightforward. You won’t have to worry about fussing with it too much.
The printer arrives almost fully assembled, so once you plug it in and turn it on, you need only level the bed and heat up the extruders via the touchscreen menu.
Once it’s heated up, insert the filament – and you’re ready to go. So long as you follow the instructions and move through the different menu options, you should have no issues.
An easy setup process means you’ll be able to get to printing and crafting new projects in no time. You won’t need a ton of skill or prior knowledge beforehand.
Very Easy to Use
While the set-up is easy, using the 3D printer doesn’t get any more difficult. Once the X-Smart 3D Printer is set up, operating the machine is effortless.
You’ll first pick your design; these can be made personally with a building software or found online. Once your choice is made, you can put it through the splicing software, and then send it to the printer.
After your item has finished printing, wait for it to cool and then you can scrape it off the bed. It’s that easy! The plate is removable too, making the printing process all the breezier.
Whether you’re a beginner crafter or have been using 3D printers for some time, the learning curve is rather small. This way, all you have to worry about is which project you’re going to try next!
Solidly Safe and Quiet
Overall, 3D printers can be dangerous in classroom settings or when around children at home. The heated bed and extruders reach very high temperatures, which could easily scorch you.
However, this model has safety features built into its design, ensuring curious hands aren’t a danger to themselves or the print.
Since it’s fully enclosed, it’s nearly impossible for outside interference. The machine can work and you can observe – but no one will be at risk.
Having an enclosed 3D printer opens up possibilities on where you can place it, and it also helps keep the overall printing noise down.
So if you want to have your 3D printer in an open space, there will be no worries of both noise or interruption. Qidi Tech has your back!
We also enjoyed this printer’s versatility. You can use at least three different types of filament, as well as create any size print up to 9 x 5.9 x 5.9 inches.
This allows you to play with a variety of 3D printing designs while also giving you the freedom to experiment with a world of different filaments (high-quality of course).
Match that to the duel extruder’s ability to mix colors and materials into one project, and you have a wide range of options.
You won’t be too limited when it comes to 3D printing with the Qidi Tech X-Smart. In fact, this device will have you easily inspired to attempt a variety of projects.
Stylish Smart Design
We loved how the Qidi Tech 3D printer looked once it was set-up and running. Its constructed to be compact so it doesn’t take up too much space on a tabletop or counter.
And while it takes up minimal space, it looks good doing so. Its enclosed design allows the red trim to pop, bringing some vibrant life to your work area.
It’s dustproof, so you won’t have to worry about it collecting any unwanted accessories, and its quiet enclosure ensures it keeps your workspace safe and quiet.
Weighing in at around thirty pounds, this isn’t the lightest 3D printer available, but it’s pretty portable. If you want to take this with you to class or an office, it won’t be too much of a hassle.
No Filament Sensor
While this machine can tackle a variety of filaments, you’ll have to keep a watch on the amount you have during or before a project.
Some (but not all) 3D printers have sensors that warn you when you’re running out, but Qidi Tech has taken the minimal approach leaving that up to you.
While this is in no way a deal-breaker, you’ll want to make sure you check how much filament you have on hand before starting each project. This way, you won’t get an unwanted surprise while in the midst of a big task.
Tricky Spool Placement
We loved the features included with this 3D printer, but using some of them can be tricky due to their placement and size.
The spool reel is something a number of crafters pointed out. While it’s designed nicely, it doesn’t accommodate all filament spools due to its size.
It fits narrower spool reels while some are designed to be wider, making it somewhat of a task to change out some spools for others.
This doesn’t take away from the device’s overall performance, but keeping an eye on the spools you’re about to install will save from some disappointment.
After going over all the positives and negatives, we do recommend the Qidi Tech X-Smart 3D Printer.
It’s almost fully assembled, it’s easy to use with the onboard touchscreen, and, because it’s fully enclosed, it’s super safe. What more could you ask for?
While the sensors and feature placements are worth noting, they are far from deal-breakers. Based on our observations, this printer delivers quality results and is worth giving a shot.
