How Does It Work
The Qidi Tech X-Maker 3D Printer is rather easy to set up and use. Since it arrives mostly assembled, there’s very little hands-on work needed from you.
It will come with an opaque hood, which should be secured on top of the printer. Then, you’ll install the filament spool holder, send the filament running through the machine, and then calibrate and level the print bed.
To calibrate the bed, you need only select that function on the touchscreen. It will do the rest of the work itself!
Finally, to set up the on-board camera, download the Qidi app to your smartphone. Just follow the prompts to connect your device to the machine.
Now you’re ready to begin using the printer. Turn it on, set the temperature you want the filament to extrude at, and wait for it to heat up. While you’re waiting, you can either create a design personally or bring up an option from a website.
Send the file through the slicing software and to the printer. Then, let it get to work!
- One spool of PLA filament.
- Tool kit.
- Spool holder.
- Ethernet cable.
- 16 GB USB.
- Power cord.
The Qidi Tech X-Maker 3D Printer is fully enclosed. As such, while the printer is operating, nothing can invade the bed area and mess up your design.
It’s always wise to secure the machine in a safe area, where it won’t be disrupted – but an enclosed printer gives you extra reassurance.
This also ensures it’s safe for kids to use (with supervision) since they can’t accidentally place their hands near the hot filament or the print bed.
This 3D printer also features a 3.5-inch touchscreen display, where you can operate all the different functions and adjust settings.
You need only press the icons to move through the different menus and select your commands. From here, you can move and calibrate the build plate, control the camera, and pick the filaments.
A highly unique feature on the Qidi Tech X-Maker 3D Printer is the filament detection. When the printer begins to run out of filament, it will display an alert on the touchscreen, so you can immediately know to install and/or buy more.
While most designs leave you to check it manually, this helps ensure you never run out mid-project.
The build plate on the X-Maker 3D Printer is both flexible and removable. As such, you can easily bend the plate to cleanly release your final print, or remove the entire plate to better access the details or allow the print to cool.
You’ll never be forced to tinker inside of a hot work area or chip away at the plate to remove your final design.
The Qidi Tech X-Maker 3D Printer also comes with a 720 HD onboard camera. This allows you to easily monitor the printing process, check on its status, or simply enjoy the show – even from a distance.
Just download the app to your phone, scroll to the appropriate feature, and view the machine’s work from anywhere.
Qidi Tech X-Maker 3D Printer Review
Super Easy to Set Up
While 3D printers seem complicated, Qidi Tech has made the hobby easy to get accustomed to by using this machine.
Since the Qidi Tech X-master 3D Printer comes almost fully assembled, you’re not left to piece together difficult hardware. The most complicated aspect will be attaching the hood, adjusting the filament, and scrolling through the touchscreen settings.
You don’t even have to calibrate the bed yourself! While this can be a daunting task to a number of hobbyists, you won’t be left to fuss and fumble with this machine.
Since this 3D printer doesn’t take a great deal of effort or time to set-up, you’ll be able to easily and quickly get started on your projects without any delays. Qidi Tech knows how to keep the excitement going with their simple and breezy set-up process.
Incredibly Easy to Use
High-tech 3D printers have a reputation for being complex – but the X-Maker is straightforward to use.
Once it’s ready to print, you need only create your design using the software, send it through the splicing program of your choice, and then transmit it to the machine itself.
After that, just ensure the printer is on, check that it has enough filament for your project’s size, and make sure the extruder is heated to the appropriate temperature. After that, the printer will pick up the file and begin its work.
You won’t need to set aside a ton of time to get this 3D printer tackling a world of projects. Thanks to the included touchscreen display and the ability to use an app, it’s easy to program and keep track of your tasks. As a result, it will be smoother sailing and fewer mistakes.
The Qidi Tech X-Maker 3D Printer is very safe for all environments. Whether it’s being used in the home, in the classroom, or with a small business, the fully-enclosed printing space makes this design safeguarded against accidents.
No curious hands can get burned, no dust or dirt can invade the filament, and no wayward objects can interfere with the printing process. The X-Maker even includes a textbook to teach kids about the process, so interesting crafts can also become a teaching moment.
The built-in camera makes it all the easier to keep track of your projects. This way, you’ll know if something is going wonky before it’s too late – you won’t even have to be in the room.
And, thanks to the filament detection, while this machine keeps crafters and their spaces safe, it also ensures you won’t be frustrated by an empty filament spool.
We also enjoyed the X-Maker 3D Printer’s ability to operate quietly. While many standard printers can create a world of noise, that’s no different in the 3D printing world. Fortunately, Qidi Tech has thought ahead.
This is mainly credited to the machine’s fully enclosed design. All the motors, extruders, and other noisy mechanisms are contained inside, so the sound is dulled.
If you’re sensitive to noise, or work in a collaborative environment, having a printer nearby can be very distracting. The Qidi Tech opens up a variety of spaces and locations you can keep this printer since it won’t steal all the attention.
This is especially great if you’re bringing this into the classroom or office. There’s no worry of disturbing other classes when you’re showing your students how to use the printer.
We really appreciated the highly compact build of this printer. If you’ve been shopping for a 3D printer, you know how excessively large they can be.
That’s not the case with the X-Maker. It measures at 20.5 x 19.8 x 19.2 inches, allowing it to fit on a table or desk without any issue. You won’t find it hard to fit this 3D printer on a desk or worktable, and it won’t be the thing to hog up all the space in the workroom.
The Qidi Tech X-Maker can fit seamlessly in an office or classroom environment, and considering its weight of around fifty pounds, you won’t be forced to move it often thanks to its compact size.
Features May Be Too Advanced for Some
While there were barely any negatives about the Qidi Tech X-Maker 3D Printer, a few testers did warn that it wouldn’t suit some beginners. It’s easy to put together and use.
However, with the built-in camera and the different features, some might be left a bit overwhelmed and confused. In that case, it’s better if you have some prior experience or someone with experience nearby to show you the ropes.
There are more basic printers on the market, which may better fit a true beginner so it may be best to work your way up to this one.
Here’s a video showing what the Qidi Tech X-Maker looks like out of the box and in action.
After looking over all the positives and negatives, we do recommend the Qidi Tech X-Maker 3D Printer.
It’s easy to use, quick to assemble, compact, quiet, and safe. There’s not much more you could expect from a 3D printer.
So long as you have a degree of experience with this type of craft, or have someone to guide you along the way, you should find the X-Maker serving you well.
