How Does it Work?

Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or entirely new to 3D printing, the Qidi Tech X-Smart is easy to set-up. Because it arrives almost fully assembled, there’s very little effort required.

Stylish Smart Design

We loved how the Qidi Tech 3D printer looked once it was set-up and running. Its constructed to be compact so it doesn’t take up too much space on a tabletop or counter.

And while it takes up minimal space, it looks good doing so. Its enclosed design allows the red trim to pop, bringing some vibrant life to your work area.

It’s dustproof, so you won’t have to worry about it collecting any unwanted accessories, and its quiet enclosure ensures it keeps your workspace safe and quiet.

Weighing in at around thirty pounds, this isn’t the lightest 3D printer available, but it’s pretty portable. If you want to take this with you to class or an office, it won’t be too much of a hassle.

The Negatives

No Filament Sensor 

While this machine can tackle a variety of filaments, you’ll have to keep a watch on the amount you have during or before a project.

Some (but not all) 3D printers have sensors that warn you when you’re running out, but Qidi Tech has taken the minimal approach leaving that up to you.

While this is in no way a deal-breaker, you’ll want to make sure you check how much filament you have on hand before starting each project. This way, you won’t get an unwanted surprise while in the midst of a big task.

Tricky Spool Placement

We loved the features included with this 3D printer, but using some of them can be tricky due to their placement and size.

The spool reel is something a number of crafters pointed out. While it’s designed nicely, it doesn’t accommodate all filament spools due to its size.

It fits narrower spool reels while some are designed to be wider, making it somewhat of a task to change out some spools for others.

This doesn’t take away from the device’s overall performance, but keeping an eye on the spools you’re about to install will save from some disappointment.

Overall Verdict

After going over all the positives and negatives, we do recommend the Qidi Tech X-Smart 3D Printer.

It’s almost fully assembled, it’s easy to use with the onboard touchscreen, and, because it’s fully enclosed, it’s super safe. What more could you ask for?

While the sensors and feature placements are worth noting, they are far from deal-breakers. Based on our observations, this printer delivers quality results and is worth giving a shot.
