These extra goodies are good quality and we are glad they are included.

A couple of them are real lifesavers; for instance, the neck strap, which insures you won’t accidentally drop your camera to its death.

We are especially glad that the lens, charger, and battery pack are included, as they are specific to the Canon brand.

Keep in mind, you won’t have the option of reusing the same supplies from other camera brands.

Built-In WiFi

How cool is that? We seriously love this feature.

You can use it to exchange files with other cameras (if they are Canon brand and WiFi capable) and upload files directly to smart devices with an app.

It also has built-in bluetooth, which you can use to snap pictures remotely, meaning your days of never being in family pictures because you’re always the one behind the camera, will be over.

CMOS AF

If you’re new to the world of DSLR (or digital single-lens reflex) cameras, you might be wondering what all these letters mean. This is the EOS Rebel T7i’s auto-focus feature.

It uses phase detection to quickly find the subject of photos and videos before tracking them. This keeps the final product crisp and blur-free.

Adjustable ISO

ISO refers to how sensitive a camera is to different lights.

A higher ISO is a good thing and a bad thing, because it allows you to take good pictures in low light, but can also add a lot more graininess to pictures in normal lighting.

Luckily for us, this camera’s ISO ranges between 100-25,600. So wherever you’re going to take pictures, it’s a safe bet they’ll be awesome and clear of graininess.

Optical Viewfinder

For such a high-tech camera, we were happy to see that this one still allows the photographer to look manually through the viewfinder to see almost exactly what the lens sees.

Some other models only provide the electronic viewfinder or LCD screen that previews how the photo will look (although this DSLR includes an LCD screen too, for those who prefer to go that route).

Touch Screen

Just like most of Canon’s features, the touch screen is built with quality.

This is a stabilization feature included to even out your videos so that they don’t come out looking blurry or shaky.

Now those of us without the steadiest of hands can be videographers too!

It only works with select Canon lenses, so double check to make sure yours will be compatible if you plan on using Movie Electronic IS.

Self-Cleaning

Last, but definitely not least, the Canon EOS Rebel T7i includes a dust deletion feature that will automatically run every time you turn the camera on or off.

If you’ve ever been plagued by camera dust that shows up in your pictures or have gone through the process of cleaning dust out of a digital camera yourself, you know what a godsend this feature is.

Fast

There is little to no lag when taking pictures with this camera.

This is highly important because whatever you’re photographing, odds are it can only stay still for so long, meaning unintentional lag will cause unintentional blur.

The quick autofocus is a great feature that can save you a lot of time and frustration if you’re new to focusing a camera.

The speed of the camera also comes through with it’s continuous shooting feature. You can head to the races and nab great shots with the camera’s 6.0 frames per second (FPS) capability.

Best DSLR for Beginners

We appreciate Canon’s efforts to make this camera useable at all experience- and skill-levels.

Getting your hands on one of these does run up a pretty high bill and that can be prohibitive for a lot of users.

If you ask us, it’s worth the extra money for the exciting new features and excellent picture quality, but that doesn’t mean it will be right for everyone.

If cost is a big factor for you, there are several good digital cameras that might be a better alternative to this one. 

However, they all might not come fully equipped with the same features.

Limited Compatibility

Depending on what smart devices you have, some of the Rebel T7i’s awesome features will not be available to you.

Its Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity are only compatible with newer Android and iOS versions. So if you don’t have one of those, you will most likely have to back up photos the old fashion way.

You should also keep in mind that only Canon lenses and other Canon equipment are likely to work with this camera. So if you already own a lot of supplies from a different brand, you may find yourself spending more time and money to adapt.

Learning Curve

Despite being, overall, very beginner- and user-friendly, it does take some time to get the total hang of it in the beginning.

We wish that the buttons (apart from the ISO button) were a little more defined so the one you want would be easier to identify and push when you’re busy looking at the screen or viewfinder.

A feature that also seems to be missing is a mode dial lock, so that you could lock the camera into a certain mode once you have it all set up the way you want, and not have to worry about accidentally changing it and ruining a picture at the last minute.

Overall Verdict

Despite an intimidating cost and couple of potential setbacks in the process of getting used to this camera, it is an awesome camera once you have the hang of it.

This is an extremely high-quality machine that captures pictures and videos of equally high quality.

We recommend it to anyone interested in digital photography who has the proper equipment to go with it–but especially for those who are new to digital photography.
