I have just one New Year’s blog resolution this year. It isn’t to post more often, take better photos or brush up on grammar, as much as I could do with all these things. It isn’t to double traffic or get advertisers. Nope. This year is all about you. Yes you, the wonderful person who is reading this sentence. My mission is to share the fantastic things that you make and do. Every now and then I get photos of inspiring projects made from Craft Schmaft patterns, like Marina’s Hot Air Balloons or Bel’s Vampire Owl, and this year I’d like to showcase them in a new category called Sew and Tell.
So here’s my call out: Sewers Wanted. I’d love to feature your creativity for Sew and Tell.
You can email me (firstname.lastname@example.org) or post a comment here, send a link to your blog or flickr. Whatever works for you.
To kick it off, Zoe sent me this pic of an Owl Mobile she made for her new neice and a mummy size owl for a friend – aren’t they gorgeous. Love the soft pinks and I think the little closed eyes are so cute. Thanks Zoe!
Over the past two weeks I’ve been a bit stuck with blogging and crafting. I’m not sure why, it just seems I can’t get going on anything. Seeing the devastation of the Queensland floods this week has snapped me out of it with a good jolt of “get over yourself, every moment is precious”.
I’ve made up a little Bluey owl kit (from NSW with love) to help with the flood relief, $10 from every kit goes to the Premier’s Flood Relief Disaster fund. You can find the Bluey kits here in the Craft Schmaft store, or find out more and donate directly to the fund here.
Toni over at Make it perfect, has organised an amazing set of Flood Appeal Auctions where bloggers auction off something hand made with all the proceeds going to flood relief.
I’m putting up for grabs a finished owl mobile and a couple of other owls for the fund, it’s this cream one here and will be put up in a separate post with bidding to start on Monday the 17th and end Monday 24th. Stay tuned.
Thank you so much for all your tweets, emails and comments on Stitches and Craft. I have good news… the Sydney hasn’t been canceled (my mistake) only postponed and there will be a new date announced this week. Hooray! We live to stitch another day ladies. Stay tuned and I’ll let you know all the details.
As a sneak peek, here’s one of the owl mobile kits I’ve been working on for the show. I’ll be launching them online next week.
At last it’s finished. The sock owl mobile pattern is now in the Craft Schmaft store available for pdf download. It feels like I’ve been working on this one forever and the last tweaks and edits have taken nearly a month! I really wanted to make sure that everything was as simple, and at the same time comprehensive, as possible.
A huge thank you goes out to the fantastic crafters who tested it for me – their feedback and suggestions were just fantastic and have gone a long way to making this my best pattern. Thank you so much… Nikki of My Black Cardigan, Sarah of The Shopkeepers wife, Sophie of Her Heart, My Hands, Ingrid of Lottielulu, Bianca of Sadie & Lance, Brianne of Limes Sweet, Peta of Pippiwillow, Talia of Talia Carbis, Melissa and Bonnie.
Cick here to go to the store for the Owl Mobile Pattern (PDF).
A printed version of the pattern is coming in the next week and will also be available at Kelani Fabric.
