Vintage Tuesday: Oh yes… it’s Tulle!

August 3, 2010

Ahhh the 70s… thoughts? Anyone?

Looking at these, and laughing uncontrollably, I do have to wonder what it will be that we look back on from the noughties and cringe about. I look back at the myriad of fabric covered photo frames and tissues boxes that I created in the 80s in horror. Will it be Softies? Japanese cute prints? What’s cringe worthy about what we create now?

They are truly awesome in their kitch-iness!! Amazing finds!

I’ve no idea what’ll be seen as naff in 10 years from now as we are constantly evolving our crafts… what concerns me more is those who haven’t moved on from the 1980s and 1990s and cannot possibly classed as cool enough to be retro.. the fussy little prints that should have been left in those decades .. mind you I thought that about 70′s prints and now look at them… however there is something about the re-invention of the look of a previous decade in modern terms that stops it looking dated.. I’ve yet to put my finger on exactly what it is, colour, texture, fabric, material?

    Great post! :)

Awesome. And…SCARY. Horror movie SCARY. Do you suppose the aim is to loofah with the rabbit as well?

Ha ha, love it. I wondered whether the scary plastic rabbit faces (which the pattern instructs you to buy) were readily available in the 70s.

Scrapbooking! I apologise to any scrapbookers reading this but it really is the corniest hobby of the noughties/now.

    OMG.
It is hard to imagine ever looking at that and thinking that you’d just given your bathroom a modern update.
