What should I call it?
April 20, 2010
OK, two posts within two hours is a little excessive but I’m having a dilemma… what to call the Sausage Dog pattern. It’s all ready to go, I’m just doing the cover art and suddenly I thought that “Sausage Dog” was a bit straight. What do you think… Weiner, Dashy, Daxie (thanks@aussieellen)?
Here’s my cover girl complete with a new collar (diamantes are a sausage girls best friend, don’ cha know?).
Update: What about Sausage Roller? I kinda like it!

“Sizzles”…a la ‘Charlie & Lola’
April 20, 2010 at 6:55 PM
Hi Claire!
I like Dashy or Dachshundy or Hundy
April 20, 2010 at 10:38 PM
Oh Hundy is cool Ornella!
April 20, 2010 at 7:17 PM
I would have gone for Snag (as in Aussie sausage slang) but it’s a bit masculine for a diamonte collar
April 20, 2010 at 10:38 PM
perhaps not to masculine for diamantes if the snag is from Sydney? ha ha

I want to be able to see the bling! Hundley is the name of the sausage dog on Curious George, he had a girl doggie visit and her name was Dauxie.

Good point Shannon, more bling photos coming up soon, I promise!

I like sausage roller, that’s cool! Siena’s contribution: Melvin! You can shoot her down if you like.

Melvin is a seriously cool name! I think I’m stuck on Sausage Roller though, I have to tell you (too much Xanadu as a child?)

Hi Claire, sorry, you’re not getting my emails!! I loved the pattern, it worked a treat & funnily enough i made my version of your sausage dog in similar bright colours!! So sorry, you must have thought i’d completely forgotten about you, for some reason your emails keep bouncing back (you’re no alone) & i just thought, der, leave a message on her blog. Also have big internet connectivity issues, please forgive me, new WAN arriving this week. Love Posie

When I was born my uncle who was in his late teens had a sausage dog who lived with us. Her name was Megan. She was the best dog. When my uncle moved out of home she pretty much became my best friend until I was 5 when she left for doggie heaven… awww
But I like Kates idea. Sizzles!!! Carlos suggests Dashie, or Chorizo (which is Spanish for sausage…lol) call us and we’ll pronounce it for you LMAO

April 20, 2010 at 10:05 PM
Or sausage roll?!
April 20, 2010 at 10:35 PM
Yup, sausage roll was the original inspiration for sausage roller – perhaps I just watched Xanadu one too many times as a kid.. he he he
April 20, 2010 at 10:51 PM
He’s a dudehound!!
(so cute!!!!)

Ooh yes Sizzles sounds perfect but only if you watch Charlie and Lola which we love in our house! Maybe Miss Dashy would be good. The bright green and pink remind of those toffee apple lollipops we used to have as kids!

Gloria, she is definitely a Gloria

How about Saussy or “saussy dawg”.
April 23, 2010 at 10:18 PM
I adore this toy – I’ve just landed here from Notions and this is the first time I’ve seen these – wow, wish my two were small enough for one of these!!!!! Do you remember the Wall’s Sausage advert from the 1980s with the dog growling ‘ssssausages’? This reminded me of it… call him ‘sausages’, or after Denise’s suggestion, ‘Aussie Saussie’
