Three woolly sock dogs

On the third day of stitches I was preparing…
Three woolly sock dogs.
Today in my, 12 days of Stitches and Craf show preparation I’ve been sewing woof woofs (as named by Oscar) and putting their kits together. This trio are made out of wool/cashmere socks and are the cuddliest things ever. So cuddly, in fact, I’ve had to prise them out of Oscar’s bear like toddler grip quite a few times today. The cream one has colourful “dick & jane” fabric under his ears. The grey one has Heather Ross’s gnomes and the pink one has polka dots – although I’m thinking of replacing them with Alexander Henry’s toadstools which are too cute for words.
.
I love the way that every time I sew a one of these they come out with a different personality. It’s the same with the Owls and the Giraffes. I follow exactly the same pattern and yet, they all emerge as cheeky, wise, playful, cute or grumpy of their own accord. I used to think it was just different pairs of socks that gave this effect. Nope – even the same pair of socks will produce a different temperament in the softie. Kinda makes it fun wondering how each one is going to turn out.
.
Now onto Sunday Stash. Here’s a vintage piece of fabric I bought on ebay as part of a big bundle. I love the blue green combination – I’ve actually used this on a Navy sock pup although the seersucker texture of the fabric wasn’t a huge success as the inners of ears. So now I’m saving it for myself. It’s on the “one day I’ll make something cool out of that” list.

Maybe you should view Oscar as your “Quality Controller”… if you need to prise them out of his bear like toddler grip, then they pass the test!

Cute woof woofs, no wonder your son loves them so much, I can just imagine how soft they are. I like that each have their own personalities too.

Oh these remind me of my best childhood toy who went everywhere with me. My dad threw him away without asking me a few months back
I’m so making a dog-dog mark 2!

WOW great design. I recently made one and it’s soooo cute. Instead of fabric for the under-ears, I used felt. Let me know if you want to see a pic of it.
