Sock owl mobile
August 4, 2009
The owls are flying to Washington. Now onto Stitches and Craft Show preparations. While I’m quite behind on my preps (I’ve been sick, had a sick toddler, had a big pitch and project on at work) I realised last night I actually work best under pressure. It’s quite ridiculous really but knowing that there’s only two weeks to go gives me this little buzz of excitement. I have a to do list a mile long and a smile a mile wide.
.
.So I thought I’d share all this madness with you and have the 12 days of stitches. Each day I’ll post something up that my true market preparations have brought to me. Corny? Yes. But I’m going to do it anyway.
.
You can see my other sock owl mobile here:

.
Update: Thank you so much everyone who has asked for the owl mobile pattern. It’s now available in the Craft Schmaft Etsy and Australian store.

The owl mobile is just delightful Claire. I look foward to the 12 days too, I work better under pressure too. Hope you feel better soon too, nothing worse than feeling under the weather.

These are so cute! Are they really made from socks? How in the world do you do that? I’d love to give it a try. I just discovered your blog- and I love these little sock creatures!

Awww… thanks Ceci. Yes they are really made from socks – with a little bit of felt and fabric for the wings. Thank you so much everyone for your beautiful comments. I just hope the real thing lives up to expectation when it arrives in Washington. Fingers crossed xxxxx

They are wonderful, I’m sure they will go over great! I’m an amateur at sewing, but I do love to try. I might try your tag monster to start with softies. My little boy is definitely in that label phase, so I’m sure it will be a hit, even if it looks nothing like how it is planned. I’ll make sure and let you know how it goes! Take care!

I just found your site and was blown away by the cuteness of your sock owls. Please, please, please make up a pattern so that we can all buy it and make them. My sister is an owl collector and I would love to make her one. Your little sock creatures are amazing. I am definately bookmarking your site.

Hello Claire,
My non sewing daughter has come across your web site and emailed me. She wants to know where she can get the pattern so she can make your owls. Can you help me?

Have just found out my sister will be having her first bub and really adore these owls. Is there a pattern available? I’m assuming a lot would rely on good sock selection… not sure if I trust my ability to select the perfect sock! Hope you hear from you!
