Owls for a Nursery
July 13, 2009
A little while back a lovely lady from the states contacted me about creating a mobile and series of owls for her sister, who is expecting twins. As we emailed back and forth they decided to decorate the entire Nursery around the colour and theme of the owls. To say I am flattered is such an understatement. So this week I’m stitching owls for the nursery. The mobile is based on the original owl mobile that I created although for this one I’ve found some beautiful driftwood on a beach to use for the hanging support. To go with them I’m thinking of a pair of downy white owls with little grey faces and a few tawny brown owls to bring out some of the other colours in the original striped socks. The fabric for their wings will be woollen felt with Letterhead (by Aunty Cookie) hand printed linen and a soft aqua linen that I used for my litle boy, Oscar’s cradle quilt. I’m also hoping to get more of the dot fabric.
.
There’s nothing more beautiful than working on a room for brand new little people. I feel honoured. Will post more progress shots as the week goes on.

Hello Claire!
So as Im searching near and far for “just the right” owls for the nursery in progress I came across your blog. I was wondering if normally do sewing creations for other people? I wasnt sure. It looks like it’s more for you pleasure and family. I just had to ask though, I would be interested if this is something you’d be willing to do for us
Love, love, love all of the detail you put into your sock animals. So cute! Thank you for your time. Look forward to hearing from you!
